"Aretha Frankenstein's is breakfast heaven with a side of cool vibes. The pancakes? Absolute showstoppers--thick, fluffy, and downright legendary. The rest of the menu doesn't play second fiddle either; everything is cooked to perfection. As for the service, it's like being welcomed by an old friend who just happens to be a breakfast genius. The team is fast, friendly, and keeps the coffee flowing like they know it's the elixir of life. If you haven't been, go now--this spot makes mornings worth waking up for!"

We got in without a wait on a Sunday morning by sitting at the bar, lucky us. Service was a bit slow to start but just fine from then on. We didn't order smartly and I look forward to going back just for that reason! We both ordered the slim stack (2 pancakes) with the blueberry butter, and a side egg. No problem with the pancakes...fluffy and tasty. Both got the blueberry butter when asked, without asking questions or noticing the upcharge. Not a big deal but I wonder if you get any butter, just regular butter, otherwise? The blueberry mix was good but not my cup of tea. Anyway, the big mistake was both getting that, instead of one order of pancakes and at least one other entree, an egg dish. Neither of us could finish the pancakes so a bit of variety would have been nice. Our bad. They have a great assortment of drinks- both the alcohol variety and the coffee styles. You can get a regular cup of coffee which isn't bad, or order latte, cappuccino, espresso, etc. If we go again I will probably get a specialty coffee along with the bloody Mary. The bloody Mary was delicious. I ordered it spicy, then didn't pay attention and ate the olive with a very hot pepper inside....be warned, that's not just a pimento in there! We will go back when in the area, I'm sure. I'm not sure if they take reservations but if they do, that's a good suggestion on weekends, I'm sure.

The place is on Chapman Hwy, just down the road from the Kern's Food Hall. The inside is so unique! Posters from old movies, covers from off brand and unique cereal boxes on the wall, and I think each dining table is unique with the kind of art on the surface. We went 8am on Saturday morning, so not crowded, though lots more tables were seated while we were there. Caution: there's no place to wait inside if you have to wait for a table. Our server was very friendly and the food - as breakfast food should! - came quickly. The espresso is strong and those pancakes! They are mainly what we went for, and they did not disappoint! I got a slim stack of 2 and could not get thru 1.5. My kiddo got the regular stack of 3...not even close! Hubs got the waffle. I wouldn't say it lived up to the menu title of "waffle of insane greatness," but it was a serviceable waffle. Overall, this place is kinda cool, has a great vibe, and great food. Def get the pancakes!

Probably my new favorite brunch place in Knoxville! So good that if you don't join the waitlist early through Google maps, you'll find yourself with a minimum 50 minute wait when you get there if not more! Inside had a Halloween and fun atmosphere and the menu had all of your brunch classics. I found it interesting that the lunch menu was Mexican style food. The downfall of our visit was we were sat at a tiny table in the front corner behind a post. Felt kind of cramped. Anyways the food was great!! The breakfast burrito was packed full, the potatoes were wonderfully seasoned and CRISPY!! The scramble was great and spicy grits were solid, different flavor profile than the usual grits you find at brunch places and larger texture. The biscuits were fluffy and the pancakes stole the show. $5 per pancake is a bit pricy but they were extra fluffy on the inside and crispy on the outside. I'd definitely return again!

After the "newness" somewhat wore-off, hubby and I decided to give this place a try. As you approach the entrance, there's a spooky sign displayed: "Please wait to be seated", there was NO waiting. We were immediately greeted by a very friendly and welcoming hostess who sat us at a table where we got a great view of the restaurant. Our server, approached with menus in hand and took our drink order, she returned after a few moments with our drinks and took our food order. When our food arrived, we gasped at the enormous amount. The portions were quite large. We were not expecting or accustomed to eating portions that large for breakfast. We took to-go containers hoping to finish up for breakfast the next day. Sadly, leftover breakfast is not the same as being freshly prepared. I would have preferred smaller portions at a lesser cost. We thought the prices were high for breakfast items, although the food was fresh and quite tasty.
